Monitoring and registration of protected birds by IT-technologies

Abstract

The work demonstrates the possibilities and advantages of the developed mobil application for monitoring and mapping of the range of White Stork (Ciconia ciconia L.) in Russia. The aim of this study is to design 1) an example of a mobil application for smartphones and pockets for the registration of the White Stork and its nets as well as 2) the web-site "White Stork - Life Wings", for accumulation of monitoring results from different regions. The mobile app allows to keep track of nests observations and route accounting birds, compose analytical reports and thereby contribute to the study of the ecology and geography of the White Stork and other protected bird species in changing environments.
